Identify service members, veterans, and their families/caregivers that live in Hamilton County by changing the way we ‘Ask the Question’ - Have you or a family member ever served in the U.S. Military?
Connect service members, veterans, and their families/caregivers (SMVF-CG) to needed resources - Peer to Peer, SMVF-CG to Community, Community to SMVF-CG, and Self to Self.
Promote safety for those in a suicidal crisis by sharing community education on suicide prevention, safety planning, Safe Storage, and customized coordinated programming.
‘Stronger Veterans, Stronger Communities’ is our Hamilton County Coalition on the Prevention of Suicide in Service Members, Veterans, and their Families/Caregivers. We are connected to the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs as well as the Richard Roudebush Veterans Administration.
Anyone in Hamilton County that is interested in helping prevent suicide in service members, veterans, and their families!
Each Coalition member is involved at the level they have the capacity for! We meet once a month, on the fourth Thursday of the month, from 12n to 1pm in a hybrid fashion – virtual and in-person. The Coalition also has a Workgroup for each of the three Pillars – Identification, Connection, and Lethal Means Safety – which meet virtually once a month. From these Pillar Workshops come tasks to implement initiatives and projects throughout the county to help Identify service members, veterans, and their families/caregivers, Connect them to resources, and promote Safety for those in suicidal crisis.
