Hoosiers with disabilities, their families and allies are invited to gather together at White River State Park in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 14th to welcome the 2024 Caravan for Disability Freedom and Justice at a Rally celebrating a rich history and encouraging civic engagement.
This free event, held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Indiana State Museum, at 650 W. Washington Street, will feature music, educational displays and historical kiosks celebrating disability culture, ADA and disability rights information, caravan photo ops, non-partisan voter registration booths, food trucks and more.
The Caravan, which represents a nation-wide collective of people with disabilities and their allies, has been traveling across America to celebrate the struggle for disability rights, promote non-partisan voter registration and encourage civic engagement of the disability community and their supporters.
Information will also be provided about the LaTonya Reeves Freedom Act (H.R. 2708 and S. 1193) proposed bi-partisan federal legislation that would effectively protect and expand the civil rights of Americans with disabilities to receive long-term services and supports in the setting of their choice.
