Youth sports are often treated as extracurricular, but they function as a critical part of community infrastructure. When designed well, they create spaces for belonging, skill development, mentorship, and long-term engagement for young people and families. When systems break down, communities feel it through declining participation, strained volunteer pipelines, and missed opportunities for connection. This session will explore what healthy youth sport ecosystems look like, why they matter for community vitality, and how leaders across sectors can strengthen them. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how youth sports can serve as a foundation for thriving, connected communities.
