Dear Colleagues,
My name is Michelle Fox, and I am the state suicide prevention director at the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA). I have been working with a small Steering Committee to design the process our state will use to update the state suicide prevention plan over the next six months. The new state plan will help drive statewide suicide prevention efforts over the next five years.
I am emailing because DMHA is pleased to announce an open call for self-nominations and nominations of others for workgroup co-chair and member positions that will assist with the writing of Indiana’s new state suicide prevention plan. There will be six workgroups focused on developing goals around the following topics:
- Community-Based Suicide Prevention
- Crisis Services
- Data and Evaluation
- Health/Behavioral Health Settings
- Infrastructure
- Postvention
Two co-chairs (one state agency representative and one person from the field) will lead the workgroups, and we are now recruiting members from across the state to participate in this effort. Through a series of planning meetings, each workgroup will help develop and identify the specific goals and action steps that can support suicide prevention efforts throughout Indiana.
The attached PDF provides additional information about the state plan update and the workgroup roles, tasks, commitments, and nomination instructions. We seek to have a variety of people contribute and collaborate in planning the future of suicide prevention efforts across all of Indiana. Although the workgroups will have a limited number of participants, all Hoosiers will have an opportunity to review and comment on the plan as it is developed.
Self-nominations and/or nominations of others are due by 12:00 p.m. ET on Friday, March 7, 2025. I encourage you to nominate yourself and/or others as potential co-chairs or members! Please also forward this email to your networks to help us spread the word about this opportunity.
